The Entertainer

Following his highly successful staging of what many in the company coined as "ST's best D&D in so many years", The Boy was approached by Fly to join them. As an entertainer.

Because of his "multi-talents" which include dancing, singing and acting. People who have seen our wedding videos and my birthday video would get an idea of what I mean.

Fly:: Think you've got potential. Would you like to join us?

The Boy:: I don't think so, I don't think I'm up to it.

Fly:: That's what many say in the beginning. You should give it a shot.

The Boy:: But I'm old already. I'm 30.

Fly:: Age is not a problem.

The Boy:: But I'm married.

Fly:: Er, Ok.

Haha, looks like age is not a problem, but being "not available anymore" is.

Actually, The Boy's ultimate wildest dream is to become an entertainer. This I really know, from the constant acting, singing and dancing he does around the house, and sometimes in public, causing numerous stares.

So this "opportunity" was almost like his childhood dream coming true, since the day he started to look up to Li Nanxing. He even had Li Nanxing's picture pasted on his primary school file - did all of us have those self-decorated and wrapped files during our primary school days??!!

I was highly amused by the Fly proposition. At the same time, I kinda felt sorry that he would not be able to fulfil this wild fantasy of his anymore, given that "Hello, this man is for my eyes only, for me and me alone"!!!!

Told him (jokingly of course) that if he really wants to become Pierre Png's colleague, then we can do the "lie low" thing for a couple of years - YEAH RIGHT! *rolls eyes*

Anyhow, for the sweet bit, he said, "Baby, of course this will not happen. You know I'll only perform for you, cos you're my greatest and only fan."

Ok, will spare him some housework for the weekend.

A Quiet Weekend In Anticipation

This has been a quiet weekend, especially since The Boy is away in Dusseldorf, Germany, for a trade show. I spent all of Saturday recuperating from the bad cough and flu.

Spent the day watching some Taiwanese drama on Channel 55. Quite drawn by Alex Fong in the show, "ho man ah"! Just like the other more matured TVB drama actors such as Michael Miu and Bowie Lam. Swoons.

Ok, I've not forgotten about my boyish Raymond Lam, in case the BBs say how come I've got a change of heart.

Realised that this Taiwanese drama is adapted from Qiong Yao's novels. No wonder I was quite drawn to it, I watched so many of those Qiong Yao shows since young. They can be really drama-mama, but quite addictive leh. Especially when we were young and impressionable, always dreaming of that perfect romance that would be dazzling with fireworks.

Ok back to reality.

Tomorrow will be my first day of work at Orchard. Had my manicure and pedicure done today, for that extra confidence booster. Haha, do I sound lame and Becky Bloomwood-ish?

Yup, finished up the book, Shopaholic & Baby over this weekend as well. Love all of Sophie Kinsella's books, looking forward to the release of her new book next.

Now, am going through the media planning that has been handed over to me for review. Hmmmmm..... looks like there's lots to be done.

A Movie Date with 4 Hunks

We went to the gala preview of the movie The Warlords last night. First time we were watching 2 movies over 2 consecutive weekends, quite a record for us, since our frequency of watching movies is seldom as often as The Boy would have liked!

I knew Andy Lau was going to be at this premier, but i didn't know that Lido would be THIS crowded, quite a mad crowd in fact! One of the stages of growing up that I've never been through - the craze of idolism, being a star-chasing fan.

Anyway, inside the theatre, Andy Lau and the other lead actress made their appearance again, this time, within more constrained surroundings.


Movie was so-so. Big budget film, star-studded cast. Jet Li and Andy Lau were really good, and Takeshi spoke few lines, rather bimbotic, repetitive lines in fact. Still, I am biased, and thus have chosen to post the poster with him instead - cos he is SO good-looking!!!

Hmmmm.....then again, perhaps I spoke too soon, cos if it had been Takeshi at Lido, I just might have gone mad, screaming along with the teenage girls??!

A Coffee & A Movie

Did quite a lot today. Apart from a busy day with running errands and work, had the pleasure of arranging a surprise birthday party for another dear journalist friend, for which we gathered his close friends together to celebrate.

And coincidentally, Shutterbug was at the hotel for a meeting as well, so The Boy and I spent the rest of the late afternoon having a nice coffee and chat with him. It was interesting to know that he's an avid collector of the annual Evian bottle series!

After more Christmas shopping and dinner later on, the Jemej did something that we had not done for a long time. Since the hand grabbing the donut (read: The Simpsons movie) for which the movie poster that I had posted on this blog was long reduced to a mere blank with an "x", we caught the movie "Enchanted".

Candice was absolutely right with her reviews, it sure left us feeling all sweet and lovey dovey at the end of the 2 hours.


When we were little girls, we all had our own fantasies of how our love story would end in a "happily ever after", how "someday our prince will come". Haha. Enjoyed this movie tremendously. Brought out the little girl in me.

The Other Miu

The flu is still bugging me. More so after an event on Thursday night, which left me totally zombified the whole of Friday, and this morning. But the thought of making my own souffle and creme brulee for the first time later this afternoon makes the day more bearable.

Had lunch with the "Marina Bay babes" on Thursday. Bakerzin's thin-crust pizza was not as wafer thin and crispy as I had thought it to be. So a bit disappointing. But catching up with the gals more than made up for it.


The topic of TVB drama serials got us quite excited. I'm the "new-entrant" compared to Candice and Piggypat, who are the "experts" already. But I have since be quite taken in by this guy - my new "偶像". The other Miu, Michael Miu. He's so 成熟稳重, so charming and sauve lor!

It's the Dim Sum Dollies!

It was a surprise treat from The Boy. He knew I'd be dying to watch it. We've watched this since their first production "The Revenge of the Dim Sum Dollies" back in 2004, never failing to enjoy every show. So when he whipped out the tickets the night before, I squealed with delight!


We totally enjoyed watching the trio, acting out the contemporary, social issues that are uniquely Singapore with a comical yet incisive approach. Hossan Leong's impersonation skills are hilarious! OH! Go watch it if you haven't!!

Mambo Mania

We spent the whole of today vegetating at home, being couch potatoes. Recovering from last night's attempt to squeeze with the crowd at Zouk/mambo. It was seriously CROWDED, I was obviously not in the right frame of mind. The Boy had wanted to go Mambo with his colleagues, to supposedly check out the youth market, for their better understanding and strategising for the segment of youth marketing.

The mass dance-like crowd with synchronised hand movements for each and every song was AMAZING, I couldn't help but stared with my gaping mouth. I couldn't understand how on earth would these kids relate to these 80s songs? Why would they get so elated at listening to these tunes??? I am unabashedly a fan of music from the 80s, but the combination of sweaty bodies doing funny signs with their hands and smoky surroundings proved too much for my old body. Thank goodness I was in good, enjoyable company, which salvaged the experience somewhat.

Never again would I step into Mambo. Don't think I'll want to step into another club again, till the anti-smoking law kicks in. I felt 10 years older, my lungs felt abused. Luckily the media event at Cafe del Mar tomorrow is open-air. =p

Behind the Mask

One of the reasons why I felt so "heart pain" to see the Phantom so sad in the end. Taken some time back at one of the events at the hotel, Brad Little has got the Drool Factor x 10. Very tall and well-built. Rebecca Pitcher (lead for Christine) was very pretty and graceful.

It still facinates me, the kind of lives they lead. They move with the cast from country to country, for months. Mr Phantom, who's married for 10 or so years, said he doesn't see his wife a lot in a year. Gee, I would miss my hubby too much!
