And Finally We Meet

The email first went out in the beginning of the year, titled "1st Gathering of 2008". 3 cancellations and postponement later, all of which were the fault of the Jemej, the blog babes (and some with their better halves) finally convened at our humble abode for some popiah this afternoon.

V did the honour by being the first to start wrapping the popiah. And there were bee hoon and curry chicken to go along, ending off with splendid cakes, courtesy of Squarenails and gelato, thanks to Olimomok.

There was so much food to go around, that only after everyone left, then I realised that we didn't get round to Candice's kuehs and Pigypat's fruits. To think that Squarenails and I were saying thank god we didn't go overboard with the spread of food today, like the last potluck gathering a year ago!

The award for being the life of the party went out to 2 special people - Jayden, whom everyone was fascinated with how he naturally dodged every corner of table that we thought he would bump into, and of course, Squarenails. Beanbean's hubby, DD, must have been quite amused, meeting Squarenails for the first time today. Or is "amused" an understatement?

With all the catching up, yakking and laughter, we had a great time. If only Lilsnooze and Baby Nat were there too!

Looking at this picture below, The Boy asked how come the guys didn't take one together? But it was funny how he noticed that still, he was the only guy who made it into this picture, haha.

Till the next gathering!

The "Ronberry" Lunch

It was an excellent lunch with Shutterbug, Silver-Crv and Lilsnooze today at Lei Garden at Orchard.

Thanks to Shutterbug who planned it all, we were happily tucking into yummy dim sum and very "bu" chicken ginseng soup, while enjoying the conversations that were going on around.

Very seldom you would see such great, well-taken photos on my blog, and they were obviously not taken by me. I ripped them off Shutterbug's blog, hahahaha....

Don't the pieces of pork belly look so inviting? Although I now confess that I didn't take a single piece - I'm 70% halal. The char siew bao was good though!

And as we all agreed, we should do this more often. It's always so great to meet up with blog buddies - you just know what's going on in each other's lives and you never run out of things to talk about.

The "Swop"

Objective of the Swirl Swop:

Give away your clothes and get "new" ones without having to spend money.

How it works:

You bring the clothes you would no longer wear. The girls bring the clothes they would no longer wear. Put all the clothes together, and pick what you fancy. One of the rules - "No cat fights please".

How I fared:

While waiting for more people to arrive, waiting for the pile to become bigger, I got distracted by the collection from Swirl and Dotted Line.

Excitedly, I tried on a couple of pieces. Just when the Swap begins, I was still in the fitting room. The others had begun their rummaging through the pile already - I didn't have a good headstart....

And so, in anticipation of the Swirl Swop, Beanbean and I met for lunch at Cedele, Raffles City, lugging our big bags of clothings along. Hers was a HUGE bag!

We had a very nice time chatting and laughing over the funny, endearing habits of our hubbies. Pity that the service was pretty slow, there wasn't enough time for us to have the desserts that we so wanted to have.

Over at Swirl, although I didn't manage to find anything, it was really fun just being there for the experience. And seeing a few pieces of my clothes being picked up by the others, knowing that they will be treasured. There were yummy mini pastries and cocktail punch, even bumped into Inthewilderness! :)

And Beanbean managed to find a few pieces of treasures! :)

Soon after, we got more interested in the clothes that were on sale. Again, no luck with it this time round as well, the piece of dress that I liked and wanted to buy was slightly torn and that was the last piece. But Beanbean managed to find yet another treasure! Heh..

Even though I didn't "score" well at the Swirl Swop, which should have been a case whereby you get "new" clothes without having to spend money, I went back with new stuff nonetheless, at a price. Dammit, and I thought I could be saving some money this weekend.

Both Beanbean and I love the black and white polka-dotted top from Nicholas so much, that we bought one each! By the way, the piece in this pic belongs to her - both bags were accidentally "swapped" during the payment process. Haha! =p

Oh, and Beanbean was wearing this same pair of Hue slip-ons. Talk about having the same tastes! :)

The Big Swop

While The Boy is away in KL attending a colleague's wedding, I have a date with Beanbean tomorrow, for the Swirl Swap Swop!

The objective is to clear your wardrobe, of all those pieces of clothings that you no longer wear, either they no longer fit, or that they were impulse buys or fashion disasters. Bring them down, and add to the pile of cast-offs from the other girls. The great exchange begins.

An ingenious way to empty the wardrobe to make way for new clothes I say! At least you know that the clothes that you have cast away will end up with someone else who would appreciate them.

The idea is to be ruthless. But like I mentioned to Beanbean, I just cleared out my wardrobe a while back, so hopefully what I've managed to gather would be good enough.

We'll update tomorrow! :)

Sparkle Thots Goes Maad

Heh, I "koped" this headline off from Michelle, whom I bumped into, while checking out Ruth's much anticipated showcase at Maad.

One thing I always found super funny about Michelle is her candid, innocently direct nature. She and Jon had a cute little boy Elijah in tow, and she was carrying him around, attempting to "inspire" us into parenthood. Yeah, she was direct to the point, quite a few times! Hahaha, Mich, I'll let you know whether you "succeeded". ;)

In case the others were wondering, Mich and Jon were only just baby-sitting Elijah. The rest of us are still waiting for her in the "BMW club".

Meanwhile, over at Ruth's booth, I added MORE to my Sparkle Thots collection, in addition to the lovely "Jaime" set. Very glad that this bazaar has been rewarding enough for Ruth. And that I've volunteered The Boy as the "model" to showcase the launch of her matching men's series next Spring.....

Oh and by the way, we discovered that the Pacific Coffee Company at Red Dot Museum is such a great hideout, perfect place to tuck ourselves away from the hustle and bustle of the mad crowds in town.

A Coffee & A Movie

Did quite a lot today. Apart from a busy day with running errands and work, had the pleasure of arranging a surprise birthday party for another dear journalist friend, for which we gathered his close friends together to celebrate.

And coincidentally, Shutterbug was at the hotel for a meeting as well, so The Boy and I spent the rest of the late afternoon having a nice coffee and chat with him. It was interesting to know that he's an avid collector of the annual Evian bottle series!

After more Christmas shopping and dinner later on, the Jemej did something that we had not done for a long time. Since the hand grabbing the donut (read: The Simpsons movie) for which the movie poster that I had posted on this blog was long reduced to a mere blank with an "x", we caught the movie "Enchanted".

Candice was absolutely right with her reviews, it sure left us feeling all sweet and lovey dovey at the end of the 2 hours.

When we were little girls, we all had our own fantasies of how our love story would end in a "happily ever after", how "someday our prince will come". Haha. Enjoyed this movie tremendously. Brought out the little girl in me.

Where Shall We Go This Weekend?

Ruth's such a sweet darling. When I lost one of the earrings which she made, she promptly made a new pair, knowing how in love I was with that pair.

And now there's a matching necklace as well!! Thanks babes, they are absolutely gorgeous!!

Spreading the word for Sparkle Thots, check out her lovely collection at MAAD this weekend....

Baby & Ice Cream

We were up bright and early this morning, all looking forward to see Lilsnooze and lilnat.

It is truly inspiring to see how Lilsnooze is taking everything so well and positively, looking very good!! And lilnat's a really sweet baby, lying on the sofa with such an adorable look of contentment. The cutest was when he was hic-cupping!

Various blogger babes (and their other halves) were there too, and apart from catching up with each other, we were also kept entertained with Lil Jayden, whose cuteness really grows on you. And since Debra's the first one amongst us to put up our pic, I'm using it as well, hehehehe. Thanks babes! ;)

Group photos taken by our husbands, who immediately took their positions with the cameras the moment the gals said, "let's take pictures!"

So from "Parenting 101" seminar at Lilsnooze's this morning, hopefully Little Missus and Syun have been well inspired to "upgrade" their status, and will we be seeing #2 anytime soon from Little Ms Bead-a-lot?? *grinz*

In the afternoon, it was spending time with Sista Sponge at Vivocity, shopping for her laptop - she's so lucky to have such a wonderful pair of sista and brader-in-law. ;) Having scoops of wicked ice cream at Ben & Jerry's was a simply great way to perk us up on a sleepy Sunday afternoon!

Babies: Simply adorable!

With the much-anticipated arrival of Lilsnooze's little bundle of joy, Nathaniel, and the wonderful news that Squarenails is next in line to have joined the Mummies' Club, even Ruth has re-defined what BMW club stands for!

From "Beautiful, married women" to "Babies, mummies & wives", this is going to be such a 热闹 club!

Hence, this entry is an update on how big and cute our nephew Julian has grown since. Don't their laughs and gurgles just melt your heart?

Followed by the birth of his auntie Chloe. Yes, his auntie is a few months younger than him - she's our cousin. Isn't that amazing?

Ok, who's next?

The Weekend: Short & Sweet

Today was an entire day of 12 hours spent at work. So weekend practically ended for me yesterday.

While we spent most of yesterday vegging out at home, I felt it was a weekend well spent nonetheless. Especially when we made a short trip out to Emerald Hill where Ci-tea by Sparkle Thots was and managed to:

1) Cut through the MRT station, where we realised we haven't quite taken the MRT together very much; take a lovely walk through the rows of charming Peranakan houses along Emerald Hill, where we started dreaming of living here one day....

2) Catch up with the creative brains behind Sparkle Thots, and of course, her baby Jayden and his proud daddy.

3) Marvel at how much Jayden has grown, since the first day that he was born, and I carried him!!!

Even managed to squeeze in some time to have dinner, albeit a quick one, with Sista Sponge. Jem the brader-in-law and her further bonded over a beer while I continued my work in the office. From her, The Boy heard a lot more "adventures" that we sisters had when we were kids. As I recall how naughty we were, the things we did were absolutely hilarious. No wonder they always say, "Growing up is painful!"

The Other Miu

The flu is still bugging me. More so after an event on Thursday night, which left me totally zombified the whole of Friday, and this morning. But the thought of making my own souffle and creme brulee for the first time later this afternoon makes the day more bearable.

Had lunch with the "Marina Bay babes" on Thursday. Bakerzin's thin-crust pizza was not as wafer thin and crispy as I had thought it to be. So a bit disappointing. But catching up with the gals more than made up for it.

The topic of TVB drama serials got us quite excited. I'm the "new-entrant" compared to Candice and Piggypat, who are the "experts" already. But I have since be quite taken in by this guy - my new "偶像". The other Miu, Michael Miu. He's so 成熟稳重, so charming and sauve lor!

On National Day....

National Day was a very eventful day for us - a first time for the Jemej at the NDP, updates to come later. But it was not before visiting 2 cute babies, yes, 2 in a row, in a day!

Cute baby #1: Baby Julian

We haven't seen him in a while due to our busy work schedules. Gosh, he's growing fast! At just slightly over 4 months, he's already teething and eating some solids. He recently had his hair shaved off - made into a calligraphy brush - cute lor!

Cute baby #2: Baby Edgar

We can feel the pride of a father oozing out from Silver-Crv, at his Baby Edgar's 满月 party. We had a really good time catching up with the happy new parents, Lilsnooze and Shutterbug. Little Silver-Crv looks like Big Silver-Crv!!

The house had balloons, cute print-outs of milk bottles, rattles etc pasted all round, adding so much colours to the jovial mood! And we even had goodie bags to go away with - can see that the daddy really put in a lot of effort in preparing for this, well done!!

Arrival of Baby Edgar

Exactly a week ago, at this time last Sunday, we went over to Silver-Crv's place to see the newly-born Lil Silver-Crv and his mummy. Baby Edgar looks so so so so cute, tucked in snugly, sleeping so peacefully. The Boy commented how he always feels very sleepy and wanna sleep too, when he sees babies sleeping so peacefully. Hmmm... is that a hint?

The confinement lady was such a pro that despite my repeated protests that I had no confidence of carrying Baby Edgar, she slipped him into my arms without me realising that he was already in my arms. It all happened in a matter of a split second, that even The Boy was stunned! As usual, whenever I have a baby in my arms, I would just stand there stiffly, not daring to move too much. Hahaha.

Meanwhile, Mrs Silver-Crv was recovering well and fast. All I had was admiration for her endurance, strength and bravery, as she recounted her experience with the delivery. *gulps*

Thanks Silver-Crv, for having us over, to dwell in the happiness of your new bundle of joy. It'll now be another experience for us to watch him grow up! :)

Thanks for the following photos too, congratulations once again!! :)

Dinner with the Blog Babes

We read about each other's daily happenings every other day. But it's been a while since the group of us last met for dinner. So we had a fantastic time this evening, catching up over really yummy food at the Soup Restaurant.

Loved these gatherings, as we all talked excitedly about all that's going on in our lives, sharing experiences and getting great advice from one another. Only a pity that Lil Ms Bead-a-lot couldn't join us! And poor Piggypat still made it to join us despite her extreme fatigue from jet lag.

Without fail, the camera's always ready - thanks to Little Missus, i've got us here too.

Highlight of the day #2: I went crazy at the Zara sale.
