Hello Daddy Hello Mummy

It's been a week since we were officially pronounced "husband and wife". It felt really surreal. I'm no longer alone. And I now have a new FAMILY!

Yes. I've been practising calling his parents "mum and dad" for the last week but not without some degree of awkwardness and self-consciousness. Haha. It's so easy to fall back into the habit of calling them "auntie uncle", which had become so natural. Initially, we were debating whether we should do this after the actual tea ceremony. But after some "research" from the wedding forum pages, we decided that it would make our parents feel really good and special if we acknowledge them as "mum and dad" respectively.

So now, it's been me practising a quick "hello mum hello dad" to myself every time just before I greet them. When a call comes in, with the phone flashing "Baby's Mum", I would pause, think "Hello Mum" before pressing the green button and chirp "Hello.... mum...". Grins. It's been weird, but of course in a blissful way. I know I'll get used to it very soon. =)

Jemej said...

really? I thought "pang teh" is during the actual day, that tea ceremony?

Depends on how u want to view "actual day" i guess. Legally married also married.

Well, reckon parents don't mind drinking tea twice. :P

lilsnooze > haha, nope we didn't think of the tea ceremony. i guess to us, still gotta go through the church one to feel "complete".

beanbean > i'm still doing it!! couldn't help the "auntie uncle" from coming out. but it's getting a wee bit more comfortable now.

his dad was like, "you getting me confused. one minute dad, one minute uncle, one minute keropok.." haha, his dad's quite a joker.

Yah lor!! It's getting better. the "mum" still sounds a wee bit "overly-emphasised" - if you know what i mean. haha... but can can, just another one more week, I'll be perfect!!!

Maybe can progress to mum-mee... and then displace Jem from the centre of his parents' hearts... kekekekek

Hahaha somehow dad sounds easier to come out?

after saying "I will"...the new daughter-in-law will displace son's position almost with immediate effect...:)
