A Jewel of a Night
On a high of checking out new hide-outs to pak-tor at, we headed for The Jewel Box this Friday evening to "celebrate" the coming of the weekend. Great, even though I have work tomorrow. Speaking of work, please allow me to digress for bit here. I seem to have developed the art of selective hearing.
Ever since I tendered 3 weeks ago, I wasn't aware that my "privilege" of having alternative Saturdays off is no more. In fact, I was gleefully telling my colleagues that I won't be coming in this Sat, and they looked blankly at me, asking how come I didn't hear our boss telling us (with reference to me) that once you quit, you can't go off on your Saturdays anymore. I swear I don't recall hearing a single bit of this at all. Oh well.
Back to the Jewel. Yes. Mt Faber sure has gone through some major reno! It looks so different from before. We settled down in a nice little quiet corner at Faber Rocks. Great spot we had, overlooking World Trade Centre. I'm not supposed to be saying this, but the waiter was quite cute. ahaha. Even The Boy agrees what! And it was him who pointed that out to me ok.
The ambience was great, nice little place. We were just surprised that it wasn't as crowded as we would expect a Friday night to be. The food service was REALLY slow though. And we ordered like finger food such as spring rolls, samosas, mini curry puffs etc. The kind that you get from the frozen section of cold storage and dump into boiling hot oil to fry. A plate of finger food platter (with 2 servings of each item) sets you back by $18, which to me, is a wee bit too steep. Here we are, some pics taken as if I was drunk then. Sorry for our CMI camera!
Nonetheless, I recalled our little conversation over the phone earlier this afternoon:
EJ: Do you know if the food is good?
Jem: It will be good as long as the company is good. And the company will be good.
