Tales of Arab Street

Have been doing quite a fair bit of fabric shopping at Arab Street the last few weeks. Very addictive thing to do, as I have mentioned before. You go there with the intention to get some lace and satin to make some cheongsam. You end up with a few other colours and types of fabric enough to make an extra 3 more dresses and 1 skirt. And you are still tempted to go down again one of these days to get more fabric to make even more dresses.

Someone please tell me where I can get some similar fabric like this one here. Couldn't find anything similar in Arab Street. Would love to have this pretty one made! :D

hi! surfed on from Yvonne... :P
you might want to try the buildings further down. the textile market buildings seem to have cloths for sale but didnt manage to venture there for a while so not too sure of the mix now.

mudgod > wear for you i will, if so the mr heng allows. *wink wink*

lilsnooze > GE day? uh, not very sure leh. Think they also need to vote, no? Quite a lot of them close on Sundays. So best day to check them out is Saturday, but not too sure about GE day.

Once you get your fabric, find tailor! I'm trying out this tailor at City plaza. Price is quite good and he gives good suggestions. I'll let you know how it turns out when the dresses are ready. heh heh.

little miss bead-a-lot > hi hi, thanks for dropping by! :)

I've been "secretly" checking out your works actually. And they look lovely. The Royal Blooms in particular has caught my eye. Can this be created again? I really love it!

Ok, back to our topic. Heh. Yes, the textile market buildings? Is it near the Sim Lim?

erhmm... no. the textile centre is Jln Sultan there. just off north bridge road. however, you might want to try Spotlight :)

pricing should be a tad more ex though. but if it gets you what you want... i guess you gotta.

:) Royal Blooms can be re-created. but i gotta ask for more time. i ran out of those beads i used so i would need to make a trip down to top up. shall we take the discussion over email?

(by the way, i usually blog at LJ instead... but locked. you got an acct there? i'll add you!)
