STUFFED!

Hosting of media luncheons. Love them, yet dread them. Love them cos it's the time of catching up. Dread them, cos this is what I have been eating EVERYDAY since Tuesday - Tuesday lunch, Wednesday lunch, Thursday dinner, Friday lunch.

And I'll STILL be having this next Monday dinner, Tuesday lunch and Wednesday dinner... till more RSVPs come in... I'm gonna be a fat bride with an overdose of pasta. *bleah*

The Great Superbowl Championships

It was quite a day like never before. After a superb lunch at Ellenbourough Market, Merchant Court, all three families adjourned to the Superbowl at Marina Square. Yup, The Boy's joker dad managed to convince my antique dad to go bowling together. Don't they look funny in their bowling shoes of yellow and blue?

The mummies had pretty shoes on, so they demanded a shot too. And everyone, checking out each opponent's scores.

The newly-wedded couple (the masterminds behind this great outing) and the supporting cast!

The great team of sistas, who scored quite a number of fluke strikes, for reasons unknown. It was weird how we each could only play in one particular lane, and not the other.

And finally....The Winning Team

An Afternoon Cuppa

There hasn't been a weekend since the longest time ago that I recall, that there is nothing on our agenda for the day. At least not till late in the evening.

It's my saturday off. We got up late, had a leisurely lunch at Siglap. Spent the afternoon in the cafe going through the wedding concept proposal from The Wedding Entourage. Ok, this may be considered part of an agenda, but at least it was a day I didn't feel like we were running all over the place like a mad chicken.

Somehow, as much as I love every step of planning, be it for the wedding or the house reno, I also can't wait for the day when all these running around will be completed. Then, we can settle down to our "normal" lives, and try catching up on our movies, and perhaps, play hosts for some afternoon tea!!

Dear Valued Customer,

As you are our special Robinsons cardmember, we are offering a further discount on top of our sale prices... valid for 4 days only from Thursday 22 June to Sunday 25 June... when you charge to your Robinsons card....

Yup, the sale truly worth waiting for. In case you haven't caught the news, additional 20% off toiletries, shoes, bags, homeware, beddings, WMF etc... What better time than now to stock up our kitchen? Ended up with some butter spread knife (for toast), tongs (for afternoon tea snacks), a frying slice and a Mayer pot (for instant noodles). All at 20% PLUS 20% off, so they are all at almost HALF THE PRICE!!!! How wonderful can life get?

Yeap, notice the trend of "fast food" that I have bought the equipment for. Haha. Domestic goddess? Think I've only just started relieving my childhood days of playing "masak masak"!

And oh, happy month-o-versary Munch! :)

Home for The Shoes

Shoesie-shoesies will be getting a pretty little home. Here's a look at the developmental stages.

From the original old-style "display corner" that belonged to previous owner to the tearing down:

To an empty corner with red walls to putting up the shelvings and a little chandelier:

Here's me trying out the shelves, and finally, with the long-awaited Goodrich wallpaper on the sliding door! Gosh, we are starting to love wallpapers....

It has been what I envisioned from the beginning - my shoe kingdom. Now what it lacks is a plush red carpet....

Back On Track

Yeap, the Jemej is back. After a most emotional last week.

Tracker says "4 months 2 weeks & 1 day to our Wedding Day". Time now to start planning the details. Got started on the invite list. It already looks scary, a potential headache. My dad springs in with some obsure Chinese customs (that also relating to Gai Gai Ma Ma's passing) that will also potentially drive me up the wall. I think it is perfectly right to follow the basic customs, but not to a point whereby it may cause friction between 2 parties. I can so faint when I think about it. I threatened to skip the ceremonial wedding and do a beautiful simple one in Bali. Haha.

Mudgod was delighted to hear about the customs. He suggested for me to compile them into a 10-year series and pass over to him when it's his turn. Gee, maybe someone should really start this guidebook, to help our parents us better understand the difference between "customs" and "superstition".

House is almost completed too. Waiting for the arrival of the furniture and some final touch-ups. The headache will come when it's time to unpack our staff and start a system of organisation in an entirely new layout/configuration of storage space - the space is an entire house now, no longer confined to just "my room".

Breathe.... breathe....

A Little Note for A Beloved One

The bouquet of lilies came from J&J yesterday morning. They have heard about the news from a friend who sent his condolences. We didn't want to disrupt their honeymoon by letting them know. Heng-gorgor sounded broken over the phone.

She has led an amazing life of 82 years. Jem gave her the nickname of Gai Gai Ma Ma as he used to go "gai gai" with her when he was a little boy. When I was first introduced to her, I felt welcomed immediately. She was such a sweet, friendly grandma with a beautiful head of pure white hair. She even has the humour that runs in the family.

She was known to be a very remarkable single parent, ever since Jem's grandfather passed away long long time ago. She was Jem's Chinese teacher. She loved to eat curry chicken, she enjoyed eating little treats of snacks which we would give her whenever she asked "what are you eating" in Mandarin. She would play "finger games" with us sometimes.

She left peacefully. She left in her sleep. The illness of cancer didn't get a chance to inflict too much pain on her, and this was what comforted us. I haven't known her for all my life, but her beautiful nature will forever take a special place in my heart. In the hearts of Jemej.

Of Joy and Sorrow

This week could probably be the most intensive that Jemej has ever gone through in their lives.

2 weddings - one that started the week with the family in a joyous, celebratory mood. Another one at the end of the week, a union between a couple, friends dear to us.

As with all that life offers, alongside the sweetness, there will be times of bitterness, of non-perfection. Someone so very dear to us was called home to be with the Lord this morning. And with dear Anni leaving this Friday to go back home to Germany for the next 7 years, we haven't quite figured out how to deal with this onslaught of intense emotions as yet.

Lord, grant us the strength and the faith to carry us through this period of time. Be they joy, be they sorrow, in You we trust.

J&J Wedding

Woke up early morning at 6 to get ready. Finally, this sweet couple, after 6 years of courtship, will be tying the knot today. The Heng family's eldest son is getting married! Here's the Heng-mummy before and after:

Heng-gorgor and his brothers getting ready to go to the church whilst Blackster is decked out in ribbons!

Over at The Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour... and the couple who's stressed out already, looking at how detailed all that planning can be!

Helping in little ways we can, we are very very happy for the beautiful couple. They have certainly come a long way. We wish them all the very best for a new phase of life ahead! It's a very blissful feeling to have a new sister, sister-in-law. The family has certainly grown bigger!

Thank you Lord, for all that You have given. Bless Jason & Jennifer, that You fill their lives with an abundance of love and joy.

It's All Coming Together

And this is a peek at one of my favourites. Right where my dressing "boudoir" would be. We fell in love with it at first sight.

And there's another one. To be revealed later.

IT'S HERE. BE WARNED.

All you passionate shoe lovers, IT'S HERE.

I gasped so loudly, so hard, I almost had a heart attack when I saw this while coming up from level 1 shoe department of Takashimaya to level 2. I thought I was dreaming. All this time admiring them through cyber space, and some limited pairs at On Peddar. They are finally going to be here, right here. Not that I can afford them, but at least, they are much more "within reach" now.

When I excitedly exclaimed that this has to be THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE YEAR, I think The Boy almost fainted. Oops, I forgot our ROM and the upcoming Wedding.... just momentarily lah. Hee. :p

A Sweet End to the Week

Just as I was wondering how it's been a while since I've gotten flowers from The Boy, these appeared at the office this late afternoon.

It sure was a lovely break, came just at the right time to bring an entire week of stress away. A perfect sweet ending to the week. Such a sweet boy he is, knowing how work stress has really gotten to me these days. Thank you Munch.
