Welcome to the New Munchkin Home!
This is the 3rd and final time the Munchkins are moving house, the first time seemed eons ago. We have been through 2 house renovations, including Heng-parents' place, followed by ours. We have been through our ROM, we have been through Heng-gorgor's wedding. We have been through the day Gai Gai Ma Ma went home to be with Jesus.
Here we are, in our new place, finally settled in. It has been a long period of house moving, tedious, bit by bit. The day started with lighting up the stove fire in front of our house. Daddy helped us with it. All the smoke went into the house. =P Check out our brand new rice bin - can hold up to 5kg of rice, although I don't eat much rice. This means the Boy can have the whole 5kg for himself.
Then it was time to boil these 4 ingredients - tang guay, red dates, dried longan and dried persimmon - all together in the classic green pot. All 4 ingredients boil together to stand for "tian tian mi mi".
We are not the superstitious type but some of these Chinese customs are really meaningful and made the move even more memorable. Aren't we always glad of our parents' thoughtfulness? The "tang shui" tasted really yummy - looks like I will be stocking up more of these for our daily consumption! :D
We even had my favourite cake - the huat guay! Finally, Heng-daddy and mummy taking in the "tian tian mi mi" soup - with my new bowls and spoons. Heh.

Congrats!
Wow, the green pot on the "stove" is really retro. Use that to boil soup will be so yummy!
I like "fa kueh" too..but I prefer the smaller colourful ones...dip in yellow sugar!
Thanks babe! :)
Re the green pot, in fact, when my MIL went to buy, she was advised by both the shop owner and an old auntie that it's much better than our modern stainless steel aka Tefal/WMF pots these days. It was something about health benefits and how the heat permeates through better.
Me too! Those dip in orangey sugar right? NICE!
kong xi!! kong xi!!
wah... really observe the traditions. we just, erhmm, moved. bit by bit. we had a LONG time. almost 9 months prior to the wedding to slowly move. lol.
silver-crv > xie xie xie xie! heh..
little ms bead-a-lot > ya lah, to make my parents happy. but at least it makes the move more memorable. Wah, 9 months - can really take your own sweet time! :)
