Bad Service
Bizarre things have been happening to me. Was at the ehem, lingerie section at Takashimaya, wanting to buy some stuff. I picked out some seamless stuff, and asked the sales person what other colours does it come in. She pointed to some, and said, "Here. They got purple, they got yellow."
I looked at the purple and yellow stuff. Right. Firstly, I'm not into adventurous colours. Next, they were OBVIOUSLY NOT seamless.
- Me:: Are you sure they are seamless??
Salesgirl:: Yah, should be. (in unconvincing tone)
Me:: I don't think so, you know.
Salesgirl:: I'm not sure. Actually, I don't know the difference.
Oh my gosh, some kind of product knowledge training she went through. Next, since this was the first time I was buying from this brand, I couldn't decide on which one of the two sizes to choose from. I was expecting her to take out her measuring tape and advise me. That's what they ALL do, don't they? But no. Instead, she told me that it depends on what size I'm more comfortable with. I got impatient and frustrated. She wasn't being helpful at all! I held up one of them, asking for the final time, "Do you think this one will fit better?" To which she replied, "I don't know. Is your backside big?"
I almost fainted. I'm never going there again. -_-
Service is such an important component of the customer experience. No matter how good your product is, if the service delivery sucks, you would have failed. Here we are, trying to be THE hub for everything, including shopping. GEMS (Go the Extra Mile Service) was something the tourism board wanted to instil in our service staff. From the incident, it is certainly disheartening to see that we are still a long way from reaching the desired standards.
I still recall how I was so impressed by the salesman in one of the shopping malls in Christchurch. I asked for a pair of shoes in a certain size, of which I sounded uncertain when I told him the size. He came back with TWO sizes, in case one didn't fit. Now, THAT is being proactive, anticipating customers' needs!

wah?!!! like that also can??!!
you shld tell her.."not everyone like you can etimate!!!"
spme sale person give you sulking attitude...those are the one i ahted most!
anyway you are right...our service standard here has quite a way to go...
crap crap crap! i feel indignant for you!
anyway, i realised that my best lingerie experience was actually in erm.. OG, when i was shopping with my mum. that was about the only time the sales staff took out the measuring tape and measured discreetly, without making additional unconstructive comments. :p
Hmm.... I'm not surprised. Really. There is no such thing as customer service in Singgieland.
what kind of a question was that? is your backside big?!?! grrr.
At the place with the sale worth waiting for, we were asking salesgirl on how this particular (quite builky) stroller can be folded up.
She HUFFED and PUFFED and almost cursed her way through the whole demo.
At the end of it I had to curtly tell tehpeng "Well I guess that's not the stroller for us, seeing its so difficult to keep!"
I thought her attitude was TERRIBLE!
so rude this woman!!
i don't even expect any sort of customer service in singapore. and i definitely don't expect product knowledge.
Aiks, not only is she inefficient, I wonder if she knows how rude she sounded!! I've encountered quite a few such rude incidents before, so I don't even bother asking them! I had to agree that service overseas is much better.
good grief. right, she was clearly not very interested in making a sale.
This post caught my eye coz I had a bad experience recently at taka too - but with the security guards.
I still have taka vouchers to spend and will be VERY firm if I get this sort of treatment! It is totally unacceptable and borders on ridiculousness.
"I don't know. Is your backside big?"
my god
what a classic line!
btw so what was your answer?? heheh
silver-crv, domestic rat, lingz, imp, sharon, beanbean> Very disappointing right? Talk about gracious society, haiz. I'll never forget this line in my life - it totally threw me off!
But the funny thing was, she was really serious when she asked the question, as in, it was an honest question from her.
yuling > OG, my mum's favourite. will take your advice and check it out the next time. thanks babe! :)
lilsnooze > Wah. that sounded bad. I always thought the place with the sale worth waiting for ain't too bad with customer service. so unfortunate!
corsage > hi! thanks for coming by. :) wonder what was your encounter with their security guards?
mudgod > I was so shocked, I could only manage, "uh, ok lor." Hahahahahaha
hiya :) Thanks for popping by too. My encounter was not as bad as yours, but just as uncalled for. Basically we got rudely chased out at closing time. http://budding-corsage.livejournal.com/126210.html
Oh, I guess they must be in a hurry to go home!! =p
