I've Signed On

I read out aloud to The Boy, the email confirmation from Palate Sensations last night, with much enthusiasm and excitement. He frowned at hearing "TWO FRENCH chefs" though - I have a thing for French-accented English. Hahaha. ;)

I'll soon be chopping carrots and onions like Yan Can Cook with less clumsiness, woo-hoo!!!

Hi there

This is to confirm your attendance at The Basic Skills Workshops at Palate Sensations starting Saturday 7th July at 2pm.

Here are a couple of things to take note of:

For those staying for the entire 8 weeks

Equipment to keep

On Saturday, you will receive your own Scanpan apron, Scanpan Chef’s Knife, Scanpan Pairing Knife, Scanpan chopping board, a folder to keep all your notes and recipes, a wash cloth and a bag with your own name tag. Please make sure you bring them every week as the classes are hands on and you will be working in small teams so you will use all your equipment.

Timing

The classes will start on time at 2pm every Saturday so please make sure you come on time as we have a lot to get through and we will not wait for you if you are late. If you are not able to make it on time, call me on 6479 9025. If you can’t come to the class at all, please let me know and either send someone else in your place or you can make up for it the next time we run the class (which will probably be after this series ends unless enough of you show interest to move onto The Advanced Series).

We will have 2 French chefs this Saturday since it is crucial you get your cutting techniques right from the very start.

Format of the Class

You will work in small groups of roughly 4 people. We will be serving full portion meals at the conclusion of each class so I strongly recommend a light lunch before coming and also no dinner appointments after!! Inevitably, there will be left overs so if you would like to take some stuff home, please bring containers so that you can take it back to share with your family and friends.

We expect you will have a lot of fun (we certainly do and we have run these series of workshops twice already) and you will make a lot of friends. There are 13 full timers at the moment. If you like, please bring wine to share among yourselves. Otherwise I will see what I have in my fridge!

Dress code

Please wear casual light clothing with covered shoes. Inevitably, this is a kitchen and it will get warm even with all the air conditioning running full blast as the stoves will be blazing and the ovens will be on. Please do wear proper covered shoes to protect yourself against spillage etc.

Terms and Conditions/Indemnity and Risk Waiver

Please read the attached document before coming to the class on Saturday. I need you to sign this form when you are here.

Payment

For those of you who have not guaranteed your place with either a cheque or a credit card, please send me the information ASAP as I need it before the class starts on Saturday.
