So Near Yet So Far

Worked late, and by the time I decided to head home, I realised that the traffic is too jam-packed with people coming in from every corner of Singapore to watch the Fireworks Festival. Decided to hang around my second home (hoteliers always joke about changing our home addresses to that of the hotel's) AND catch the fireworks, while waiting for the traffic to ease.

So, another perk of the job - catch the fireworks from the rooftop, which is typically off access to the public, unless for special reasons. It was chilly up there, the nightscape of the city was just breathtaking. Every time I'm on the rooftop, I feel a sense of peace and serenity, that I'm above all the chaos of the streets below. AND it sure was chaotic down at Marina Square.

The display was awesome. Ten times more spectacular than that on National Day. I would typically not have joined in the madness of the crowds to watch such fireworks. By circumstance, I had the opportunity - and I did not regret, nor lament on being a loser at work on a Friday evening.

Stayed on till after the traffic eased, accompanied by 2 mugs of Tiger. While sitting at the bar, a few colleagues came up to "keep me company". It was pretty amusing, having them rant to me about work, being from different factions of the great divide. Oh well, guess that's the way work politics is.

I was in office till 830ish and cabbed home before the crowd, tho I did contemplate hanging around..but my office view is blocked la.

(I really am a sucker for fireworks)

oh, i must be in lala land, i didn't even know there was a fireworks display planned! Work politics sucks but seems like you're handling it well that you get both sides ranting to you :)

lilsnooze > Well, fireworks are really beautiful without a doubt! You should have stayed around longer!

corsage > Singapore fireworks festival - watch out for it again next year, usually after the national day! :)Work-wise, it makes it more scary, cos you can never trust anyone, you must be extra careful in what you say.

Nice to wind down with beer and fireworks display (espy minus the crowd) after a busy day.

yeah that's why I find it hard to have colleagues as friends and only very very few do actually become friends.

silver-crv > haha, okie okie ;)

dr > absolutely! :)

corsage > yup, very few colleagues go on to become friends. and even if you appear to be friends then, after each goes his/her own way to different companies, things will change also.

beanbean > it must have been very nice from the ritz too! :)
