Milan - The Fashion Capital

I've been so engrossed in checking out our accommodation for Italy, that I decided that I would not further kill any more brain cells thinking of what clothes to pack in my luggage. In fact, for a shopaholic like me, it's quite no-frills for me when it comes to packing clothes for holidays.

I tend to pack a couple of pairs of jeans, plenty of t-shirts, a couple of coats and only 1 pair of walking shoes. No "fashion parade" of sorts. No overloading of luggage - I try to save as much space as I can, so as to accommodate all that shopping. And then I end up looking the same in every picture.

And this I was intending to do, till r@e reminded me that I'm not going to just any country. I'm going to Italy - that is, Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan - one of the fahion capitals of the world. A country where it has always been well-known for stylish-chic fashion, a trend-setter, home of Gucci, Prada, Ferragamo and all. In short, the MOTHERSHIP of a true-blue shopaholic/fahionista.

Come on, EJ, what were you thinking of??? IT'S ITALY LOR!!!!!!!!

I was ashamed. To think that I was even contemplating carrying a backpack. R@e thought it was a joke. "I don't think Italian women carry backpacks lor. And you want to carry that into the Prada boutique???" she asked.

That's it. All of a sudden, I decided that just for today, only today, I would break that rule of saving up more money (than usual), just before we set off for the trip. I shopped with a purpose. And I was mighty pleased with the find. :D

Ok, back to tripadvisor.....

looking good! Must wear the belt a little lower and complete the look with a nice scarf and leather gloves.

it's true that they say "when in Rome, do what Romans do." You will be compelled to dress up when walking around in Fashion capital.

VERY NICE!!

Tell me about it! I'm like buying a storm for my trip to Korea (and possibly NYC before that). I REFUSE to look frumpy! Colin was just commenting that I'm buying stuff to go there to buy more stuff! Opps!

Ah well, at least the excuse that I'm sticking to is that I don't have any clothes at the moment that will see me through sub-zero temperatures...heh heh.

you look lovely! I'm sure you'll be able to wear/use what you buy there as well too :) Anyway enjoy the trip, the company, and stay safe. Watch out for pickpockets in Rome

yes...you must dress nicely and fashionably when in italy. all the women do. so you've gotta blend in. then won't be so easily taken for a ride by the locals. heh.

Boots! Remember the boots. Save the sneakers and backpack for another trip.
