Endless Supply

What happens during Christmas? You get logcakes, fruit cakes, stollen, ham, turkey etc etc etc. And you can't finish all of them of course.

So you have them for afternoon tea.... which was quite nice on a cool Christmas afternoon with a nice cuppa English Breakfast.....

And you get creative with the ham and turkey - "Ham & Turkey Fried Rice"!!!!

Somebody would have to teach me how to fry the rice better though - taste is there, but mine tends to clump together. =p

Anyway, somebody please help us finish all the festive stuff in the fridge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hahah.. innovative..

for the rice to stay apart, the right amount of oil must be used. As overnight rice is dried in the fridge, need to have a little more oil and water to loosen it up.

Oso the heat of the pan must be piping hot :D

Ah so! Think my pan wasn't hot enough. Right amount of oil - meaning oily or not oily? Haha, my rice wasn't overnight, straight from rice cooker into pan! =p

hehehe.. depends on how healthy you are lor. Use Olive oil lah, just drizzle and gauge lor.

the 1st thing about fried rice is that your rice must be dry enough (ie overnight rice) so that it won't really stick so much in the 1st place coz freshly cooked rice has alot of moisture within the grains so when you heat them up, the moisture ooze out and 'glue' the rice together :D

was just going to say that you need to use overnight rice so it won't stick, but i see Ron's already explained that! freshly cooked rice tends to clump. if not overnight then leave the rice to cool before frying - it helps!

yes, use overnight rice is much better. so if you plan to do fried rice in future, cook more rice for dinner the night before. ;)

they've said it all - no hot moist-laden freshly-cooked rice!:)

hey, i love your cups! can i know where you got them?? sigh, i've too many mugs/cups at home, but like i always say, you can never have enough of pretty things in the home! :D

shutterbug > Olive oil, sure healthy one! darn maybe i used too much water when i cooked the rice - i'm not good at cooking rice. haha.

they should have a "fried rice for dummies" series.

beanbean > oh yes, have heard about how using overnight rice is best. so no more spur of the moment "let's have fried rice"!

silver-crv > haha, i'd have to learn from you first lor! ;)

ruth > *gulps* don't remind me of that. =p

lilsnooze > that's why! the simplest stuff always seems to be the hardest to do!

candice > hahahahaaa.... uh, problem is, only he eats rice. I don't eat rice. 1kg of rice can last us half a year, ahahahahaha. So we don't really cook rice that much, let alone have leftover rice! :D

Oops, you caught me. ;)

yuling > they are from a brand called "multiple choice" from robinsons. oh yes, I can never get enough of pretty things for the house too!!! it's an addiction! =p
