Super Suter

Out of the few times that I had gone wakeboarding, which was even before I met the Husband, I never succeeded in standing up. And yesterday, thanks to "Super Suter", Singapore's no. 2 wakeboarder, his patience in coaching paid off, and I proudly rode the waves!

The day started off bright and early, as we met up at Marina Country Club. It was a pity The Boy had to pull out at the last minute as he was getting really busy with his company's D&D preparation. Nonetheless, I had a terrific time with the gals, and the superheroes, for the sunshine was very much welcomed

We had one boat to ourselves, while the guys were in the other. And we made our way to Sebana, in Malaysia.

When it was time to start wakeboarding, we split up - the couples on one boat, while the singles + me the married one took the other. Aloy and Shawn were of course the pros, cos having their OWN wakeboards already says something.

On the other hand, r@e and I were the "babies", having to learn everything from scratch. And I get very intrigued whenever Suter brings out his "toy" - the action figure wakeboarder to demonstrate where we went wrong.

When it was time for lunch, I managed to stand up for a bit, while r@e was still trying to keep her knees together. Lunch at the kelong was unforgettable. One of the best crabs I've ever eaten, best squids ever! And Uncle Jimmy, the guy who stays on the kelong, refuses to divulge the secret recipe of the fantastic sauce he uses to fry the crabs. Apparently, many people have come JUST to have lunch at his kelong.

Soon after lunch was finished, r@e had to have another session of personal training, on land. Suter had to make sure that she stands up by the end of the day, otherwise his perfect record of successfully getting everyone up would be, uh, tarnished. Haha, poor BB must have been very stressed. But she was very determined alright!

We were then treated to an awesome performance display by Singapore's no. 2. He somersaulted, he jumped across TWO wakes, he made it look so cool, so fun. I was almost daydreaming about what it would be like, to quit my office job and be a "surfer dudette".

By the end of the day, I was so happy that I finally got from the "I never got up" stage to the "look, one arm only!" stage. And I guess even the skies were happy - see that rainbow in the background!

Definitely looking forward to doing this again. Even BB said it was money well spent. Even though we were super tired by the end of the evening, and really sunburnt. Now, my entire body aches, in all those places I never ever imagined would. It was certainly a great workout alright!

Hi, I've been following your blog for quite some time now. Will be heading to Italy come June. Do you have any idea roughly how much cheaper a Miu Miu bag will cost over there? After tax refunds and stuff?

Thank you very much! :)

Need to clear the marine customs - that was quite an experience, cos you wonder how on earth do they locate where they are!

At sebana, waters are calmer, cos it's along the rivers - so better luck at standing up. Heh!
