Yummy Sunday

Yesterday was "stuffing our faces with good food" day.

Made a wrong turn while trying to go Katong after Sunday mass, and ended up at Old Airport Road. And since we haven't been there since they renovated the place, decided to have our lunch there.

We had so much - the hokkien mee and carrot cake were good, while the wanton mee (the one with the digital display of your queue number machiam like clinic) didn't turn out as good as I would have imagined, given the number of newspaper reviews they pasted on their display window.

After the long-overdue manual car wash at the petrol kiosk, the craving for a lazy afternoon coffee set in. Adventurous we still were, we checked out Old Town White Cafe at Playground @ Big Splash.

It was quite crowded, and we waited a while before we got our seats. We found the white coffee too sweet, coming from me who take black coffee kosong. The kaya toasts were not too bad, though I still think Ya Kun's the best around.

The Boy (yes, he was still hungry even though we had quite a lot for lunch) enjoyed the Nasi Chicken Rendang thoroughly though, happy that this could be another place to have our lunch or dinner the next time.

Now, it ain't too good an idea to blog about food this time of the night. I'm getting really hungry man....

Oh now that pebbles mentioned it, yes, Old Town is from msia!

Heh, Old Airport Rd used to be my "playgrd" cos my grandma used to have a stall selling chee cheong fun (thus explains my loooove for the dish).

yeah i think ya kun has the best toast too! although there's another camp of killiney lovers who think ya kun's 'loti' is too brown and crispy haha.

pebbles > Yeah it's from M'sia! Only tried the nasi chicken rendang, which wasn't too bad. Well, give it a try at least, who knows? :)

karma chameleon > ah yes, i don't know how you survive like that! I think Singapore's got the most varied types of cuisines!

lilsnooze > oh that's cool! did you help your grandma at the stall? :)

michelle > i was there after the lunch peak hour, around 2, so it was ok. I heard it's impossible to find a parking there during the meal hours.

elaine > maybe next time i'll ask for "siu dai"!

candice > i know, tell me about it! we couldn't decide what to have, cos there were so many "must trys"!

tiffany > black or white, i also like, no preference! :)

chloe > yup, it was from the nam sing stall *beams*

Precisely because it is brown and crispy, i love it!! :D
