Menu Tasting

It was menu tasting at Shangri-La last evening. Hmmmm... rather disappointing, with some dishes not up to the standards of a brand name synonymous with 5-star status. Catering manager was not even there to address our concerns and it was literally food tasting, minus the actual day dinner table set-up. It was like having an ordinary dinner at a chinese restaurant. Did my complaint big time, felt myself finally turning into the "bride-zilla". Always thought I would be cool, but the evening really made me blow my top.

Anyhow, here's the beginning and the end - although I must say the dessert was great. Starter was also not too bad. Shark's fin soup was a disappointment, too starchy. Vegetable dish was also too starchy. Come to think of it, save for those 2, the rest was not too bad. Let's just hope that all our comments will be taken into SERIOUS consideration on the night actual.

Our dads were jovial, talking about the days of their past, with my dad drifting too much too often into talk of his newly-acquired "1goodname.com" website.

And it was Heng-mummy's birthday, complete with yummy chocolate truffle cake (ok their cakes & pastries are GOOD) and flowers.

Then it was time spent commenting, not so nicely, about the food to the banquet chef. We didn't quite like the prawn dish too, so it was actually very sweet of him to go back to the kitchen and prepare this alternative for us to try.

At the end of it all, we are only glad that both families got to spend some quality time together, and we had an enjoyable evening nonetheless.
