Nuts about Donuts

10.30am

My mum called to say she was 3rd in line at the "famous donut shop" in Raffles City. " Donut Factory!!" I gasped.

I thought it wasn't too bad, that she's 3rd in line for the much-sought after donuts. It wouldn't be too long before we can get our hands on them!

She called back 10 minutes later to say she's giving up. She was told that the shop would only open at 12.30pm. Man, what were the 2 losers in front of her doing?! They must have known that they would be in for a 2-hour wait?!

3.00pm

My mum called again to say she had finished all her errands, and was in the queue again. For the past hour already! I chided her for being silly, for waiting so long in the queue, machiam like for Macdonald's Hello Kitty.

But a mother's love sure surpasses the fatigue of wait time, as all she focused on was to get her children these precious donuts. She walked all the way back again to my office, and handed me the dozen.

We all have a tendency to take our mothers for granted. Or at least, I can say that I'm guilty of that. Since young, I never have to search or work too hard to get the things I want. My mum has always been there to provide for me, to make sure that I'm well cared for, with unrelentless love. Likewise, looking at Heng-mummy, all I can say is that a mother's love is so amazing, so great. Everything that they do is for and only for their children. I thank the Lord for having richly blessed me with such wonderful mummies, for their selfnessness in wanting to provide us with only the best.

Every bite into the donut filled me with deep emotion, a deep sense of bliss. Of course, it tasted very fluffy, very yummy. But it was the taste of love that made the donuts extra special.

I pray that I'll be as great a mummy when it's my time.

beanbean > Indeed, i was so touched! :) Yeah, i wouldn't queue too.

I would say they are as good as the krispy kremes! So we don't have to lug the boxes of krispy kremes back from overseas anymore. just queue 2 hours at raffles city. hee.

lilsnooze > Aren't they amazing, the extent they would go through for their children. I guess when you have your own babies, it's a very different level of love.

Nothing beats the love of our dear mummy and daddy. Treasure them when they are still around.

lingz > Really?! I didn't get to try out the double choc one. I wanted to try the more "adventurous" ones such as the kaya with choc - that was very nice too! :)

Yup, my mum was there at 10.30am, and was third in the queue. She didn't know it opens only at 12pm! wonder when will this craze die down...
