Stew Good

Decided that it was time to finally use the rice cooker and slow cooker that we bought since we moved in. Decided that the Jemej would have beef stew for dinner tonight. Spent last night cutting up the potatoes, carrots, onions and beef into little cubes. (Any one has any idea how to get rid of the smell of onions from the fingers after all that chopping??)

Dumped them into the slow cooker this morning, and left the stew to slow cook for the rest of the day. Although I knew it was generally ok to leave the slow cooker on this way, there was still a tinge of worry at the back of my mind that the slow cooker was unguarded at home.

As we reached back home this evening, we could smell the beef stew from the door! Boy, it felt good that for once, the nice aroma of cooking, which you usually smell from someone else's house, belonged to me! Turned out that my stew was still ok after a whole day. By then, the beef and onions were all nice and tender.

Alongside the tasty beef stew, I finally fulfilled my "wifely" duty of "cooking rice" (zhu fan) for the husband.... Heh. =p

Yes, that's what's missing from my kitchen - a slow cooker to make soup! :)

Go get one, I think it's really convenient and makes tasty soups and stews! Leave on the whole day, come back from work, can eat already!
