The "Other" Birthday Party

After going goo-goo-ga-ga all over at a one-year old baby's birthday party, innocent and all, and short of humming to the next Barney's sing-along tune, the next birthday party that we attended the same evening was definitely of a different world.

It was a dinner gathering at Moomba to celebrate the birthday of the Piceans, them turning THIRTY this year.

The email said "to come dressed up", and our friend Mudgod obviously took the meaning literally and even further - he showed up in a dress. One of Ms P's old dresses in fact, while she was dressed in shirt, pants and cap. But then again, Ms P wears the pants in their household all the time anyway.

And in this white, "flowy" dress, Mudgod had actually walked all the way to the restaurant from the carpark, along Boat Quay. We had nothing but total RESPECT for that man.

The food was excellent - we ordered some mouthwatering starters of fresh oysters, duck salad, and crab cake. For the mains, The Boy had the kurobuta pork, which was very juicy and flavoursome, while I had the tender confit of duck. Paired with an excellent sparkling shiraz, the dinner of gourmet food and great conversations was absolutely enjoyable.

The birthday cake of bananas and chocolate was divine. Followed by lots of cam-whoring, including the guys trying peep up Mudgod's skirt and doing a Marilyn Monroe on him.

The old folks in their 30s versus the SYTs in our 20s. Come on, I had to make my last year in the 20s age group more memorable.

The gathering was a great success, thanks to Pamcake who organised it from the start. And we didn't end there, we even went for karaoke thereafter.

More pictures of the evening here.
